Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 update release.

Symptoms

When you configure a SQL Server Agent job to run past midnight on specific days in Microsoft SQL Server 2005, in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, the job randomly stops sometime after it runs past a time of 00:00. However, the job resumes running the next scheduled day. For example, assume that you schedule a SQL Server Agent job to run from 22:00 to 02:00 on Monday, on Tuesday, on Wednesday, on Thursday, and on Friday. Additionally, you set the frequency to every 15 minutes. In this scenario, the job might stop at 23:45 on Monday and then resume at 22:00 on Tuesday.Note This issue occurs in SQL Server 2005 only if you install one of the following update packages:

  • Cumulative update package 13 for SQL Server 2005 Service Package 3 (SP3) or a later cumulative update package for SQL Server 2005 SP3

  • Cumulative update package 3 for SQL Server 2005 Service Package 4 (SP4) or a later cumulative update package for SQL Server 2005 SP4

  • The security update 2494112 that is documented in security bulletin MS11-049 for SQL Server 2005 SP3 For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
