Symptoms
When you enable the Data Mining Add-ins for Microsoft Office 2010 or enable PowerPivot for Excel 2010, Excel might crash. Additionally, next time when you open Excel, you may receive one of the following error messages:

For the Data Mining Add-ins for Office 2010:
Excel experienced a serious problem with "sqlserver.dmclientxladdin" add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?

For PowerPivot for Excel 2010:
Excel experienced a serious problem with "powerpivot for excel" add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?
Resolution
The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server:
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
