Symptoms

Assume that you run an SQL query that uses the SELECT INTO statement together with the TABLOCKX hint or the TABLOCK hint and the UPDLOCK hint. If the maxdop value is greater than 1, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Error: "Transaction (Process ID 72) was deadlocked on lock | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction."

Resolution

This problem was first fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:
