Symptoms

Assume that you install an instance of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) in SQL Server 2014. When you back up a database that contains many dimensions or partitions, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

Memory error: Allocation failure. If using a 32-bit version of the product, consider upgrading to the 64-bit version or increasing the amount of memory available on the machine.

Note This issue occurs even when the system has sufficient memory.

Resolution

This problem was first fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Cumulative Update 6 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1
