Symptoms

When you process a partition with the Process Add mode, an access violation may occur. This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • The table has a single partition that has more than 16,777,216 rows or multiple partitions that have more than 8,388,608 rows.

  • The query to the source table for ProcessAdd returns no row.

Resolution

Cumulative Update information

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
