Summary
This update adds the Dynamic Management Function (DMF) sys.dm_db_incremental_stats_properties element to let you access properties of incremental statistics.
Note This update for DMF resembles the existing DMF sys.dm_db_stats_properties element. However, it also returns an additional column, partition_number, which provides the partition number for incremental statistics.More Information
Incremental statistics are built on a partitioned table. This lets you maintain these statistics at the partition level instead of at the table level. Instead of having to scan the whole table, you can scan at only the partition level. This may significantly reduce the duration of your maintenance operations by updating only the statistics on the partitions that must be updated. Check out this blog post on TechNet for one such example. This update is included in the following service pack for SQL Server:
SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 2 SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1
Service packs are cumulative. Each new service pack contains all the fixes that are in previous service packs, together with any new fixes. Our recommendation is to apply the latest service pack and the latest cumulative update for that service pack. You do not have to install a previous service pack before you install the latest service pack. Use Table 1 in the following article for finding more information about the latest service pack and latest cumulative update.
