Applies ToSQL Server 2016 Enterprise Core - duplicate (do not use)

Symptoms

When you install a non-English language version of SQL Server 2016 on a Windows Server that is installed in Server Core mode, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

0x80004005 : File specified cannot be found.

Note This issue doesn't occur if the server has the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 installed.

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server:

Note The fix is in Setup Support Files. To obtain the fix, use the following two options:

  • Extract sqlsupport.msi from this CU package and then install Setup Support Files first.

  • Use slipstream installation of RTM + CU

To avoid this issue, install the .NET Framework 4.6 language packs before you install SQL Server 2016.

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
