Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have installed Microsoft SQL Server 2016 on your computer.

  • You use the INSERT INTO or the DELETE FROM statement on the instance of SQL Server 2016.

  • You check the total checkpoint files by using the SELECT * FROM SYS.DM_DB_XTP_CHECKPOINT_FILES statement.

In this scenario, you may find that the number of files on the disk is more than what you saw on through the Dynamic Management View (DMV). 

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server:

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
