Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2014, or 2016 Analysis Services.

  • You belong to two database roles that both have dimension data security permissions to a cube.

  • You execute a CREATE SESSION CUBE statement.


In this scenario, SQL Server Analysis Services may crash.

Resolution

This problem was first fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Cumulative Update 8 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1

Cumulative update 2 for SQL Server 2014 SP2 

Cumulative update 6 for SQL Server 2012 SP3

Cumulative update 3 for SQL Server 2016


Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
