Cumulative Update 15 (CU15) for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 (SP2) was also released as a SQL Server Security Bulletin on 11/8/2016, KB3194725. See MS16-136 for more information. Because of this, you may already have CU15 installed as part of that security bulletin release and installation of this CU is unnecessary. If you do try to install CU15 after MS16-136, you may receive the following message:

There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer.

Note This message indicates that CU15 is already installed and no further action is required.

Note The package name for CU15, "SQLServer2012-KB3194725-<x86/x64>.exe", contains the MS16-136 KB number (3194725), not the CU15 KB number, (3205416). This can be ignored as a single package services both release channels.

This article describes cumulative update package 15 (build number: 11.0.5676.0) for SQL Server 2012 SP2. This update contains fixes that were released after the release of SQL Server 2012 SP2.

Notes for this update

Cumulative update

  • We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment.

  • We recommend that you apply the most recent update release.

    • This cumulative package is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing these specific problems.

    • The most recent update release contains all the hotfixes and all the updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2012 update release.

  • We recommend that you upgrade your SQL Server to the latest SQL Server 2012 service pack.

Hybrid environments deployment

When you deploy the hotfixes to a hybrid environment (Such as AlwaysOn, replication, cluster, and mirroring), we recommend that you refer to the following articles before you deploy them:

  • SQL Server hotfixes are now multilingual. Therefore, this cumulative update package isn't specific to one language. It applies to all supported languages.

  • The "Hotfix Download Available" form displays the languages for which the update package is available. If you don't see your language, that's because a cumulative update package isn't available for that language.

One cumulative update package includes all the component packages. However, the cumulative update package updates only those components that are installed on the system.

If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and to issues that don't qualify for this specific cumulative update package. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support telephone numbers or to create a separate service request, go to the Microsoft support website.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs.

Note If you are running Windows 7 or a later version, select Programs and Features in Control Panel.

  2. Locate the entry that corresponds to this cumulative update package.

  3. Press and hold (or right-click) the entry, and then select Uninstall.
