Symptoms

Assume that you execute a spatial data query that uses spatial indexes in Microsoft SQL Server 2016, and the spatial query has been compiled before. In this situation, an access violation may occur. The SQL Server may also crash.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1 (SP1)Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016
