Symptoms

Assume that you have a Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2017 Integration Services (SSIS) package that contains German umlaut (ä, ö, ü) characters in the name of the task or the table that the package references. In this scenario, when you run Incremental Package Deployment for the SSIS package, you may notice that the deployment is successful. But when you try to run the package directly from the SSIS catalog, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

PackageName:Error: Executing the query QueryStatement failed with the following error: "Incorrect syntax near '¼'.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

PackageName:The task, TaskName, failed.
