Symptoms
Consider that Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is disabled on startup for SQL Server 2017 on Linux. Therefore, any outbound connections that are initiated by SQL Server to connect to linked server or to secondaries of an availability group by hostname will fail with an error because of name resolution problems.
Workaround
Use Internet Protocol (IP) address instead of hostname to connect to SQL Server or remove the parameter ipv6.disable=1 in boot cmdline file to enable IPv6.
