Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AG) in SQL Server 2017.

  • You have CLUSTER_TYPE = EXTERNAL AG or Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) cluster on Pacemaker.

  • The Pacemaker process operation times out.

In this scenario, the Pacemaker may kill the resource agent processes.

Note This issue happens mostly with AGs that contains large databases or many databases.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

       Cumulative Update 11 for SQL Server 2017

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
