Symptoms
Assume that you have a Master Data Services (MDS) database in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2 or SQL Server 2017. When you try to connect to the MDS database by using the MDS Add-in for Microsoft Excel, the connection is unsuccessful.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in the fowllowing cumulative updates for SQL Server:
Cumulative Update 13 for SQL Server 2017
Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2
