Symptoms
Assume that you use databases that have Query Store enabled in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2017. When Query Store cleanup removes a high number of runtime statistics, and you do it inside a single transaction, this can fill up the transaction log and outages may occur.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
