KB4521758 - FIX: JDBC XA transaction fails with an error in SQL Server 2017 on Linux


Assume that you configure JDBC XA transactions after SQL Server database is installed. When you try to use the JDBC transaction on SQL Server 2017 on Linux, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

main" javax.transaction.xa.XAException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Failed to create the XA control connection. Error: "Procedure expects parameter '@errormegssage' of type 'nchar'."


Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.


This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

NoteĀ For this fix to take effect, you need to enable the Trace Flag (TF) 8291.
