Symptoms
Assume that you run DROP DATABASE on master node in SQL Server 2019, but the operation fails. If the "drop database" operation fails on Master due to failure on the Master node (for example, the database is in use by an existing session on the Master instance), then the corresponding back-end databases on data pool nodes may be deleted. If the "drop database" operation fails on Master due to external reasons (for example, the database cannot connect to the controller node), then the corresponding back-end databases on data pool nodes may not be deleted.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:
