Symptoms

Microsoft BizTalk host instances and the Admin console don't start if the default web proxy is disabled. For example, a configuration file, such as BTSNTSvc.exe.config or machine.config, contains the following setting:

<system.net>

<defaultProxy enabled="False" />

</system.net>

In this situation, you receive the following error message:

Error source: Microsoft.BizTalk.CommonSettings
Error description: The type initializer for 'Microsoft.BizTalk.CommonSettings.CBizTalkSettingsLookup' threw an exception.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in the following cumulative update for BizTalk Server:
