This article describes an issue that occurs when you set the MinDiffAreaFileSize registry value to specify the minimum initial size in Windows Server 2012 R2. You can fix this issue by using the update in this article. Before you install this update, see the Prerequisites section.
Symptoms
The MinDiffAreaFileSize registry is ignored, and the initial size of the diff area is calculated by other logic that's based on free space and filesystem size.
