Issue
Is it possible to create a new Account Category in Microsoft Dynamics GP and make that reflect on the financial statements?
Resolution
In the Account Category Setup (Setup| Financial| Category), you would be able to add a new Account Category, however, this category will not print on the standard Financial Statements.
Follow these steps to add the new Account Category to the Financial Statements:
1. To get to the report layout,go to Reports | Financial | Advanced Financial. Select the report andclick the open button. Click the Layout button.
2. To changea row so that it shows an Account Category, select the Row by clicking on the Row Definition. The Row Definition is on the left of the report. It will be R1, R2, R3, etc. depending on the row you are changing.
3. On the menu bar, go to Definition | Column. You are now in the Financial Row Definition window.
4. Change the Type field to Account Category. This enables the Category selection.
5. You can also enter a description.
This will make changes to the report you print at Reports | Financial | Financial Statements.
