Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

This article describes update KB2899509 for Microsoft Excel 2013 that was released on November 11, 2014. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which contains Excel 2013.

Please be aware that the update in Download Center applies to Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It does not apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?).

Fixes and Improvements

Fixes the following issues:

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You create a XML Spreadsheet file by using Excel 2003 or Office Web Components (OWC10).

    • You insert a PivotTable into the file, and then you filter the pivot items so that some are hidden.

In this scenario, when you try to open this file by using Excel 2013, Excel 2013 may crash.

  • Assume that you open an Excel workbook containing a PivotTable that is based on an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) database. When you filter the data fields in the PivotTable, the fields that contains the '~' or '^' character may be displayed incorrectly.

  • Assume that you insert a PivotTable into an Excel workbook. And then you select the check box of the Classic PivotTable layout (enables dragging of fields in the grid) option in the Display tab of the PivotTable Options dialog box. In this situation, when you print or print preview the PivotTable, the number of the pages to be printed may be incorrect.

Improves the Document Inspector so that it covers more hidden and personal information in an Office document.

  2. On the File menu, click Account.

  3. For Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item is not displayed.
