Components of PS Time and Expense:


- A web interface for employees and approvers to use for entering timesheets and expense reports.


- The eBusinessDesk Administration application for importing existing PDK users into PS TIME Expense.


- The Dynamics/eEnterprise database and applications which are used for storing and processing the data entered in PS Time andExpense.These include eEnterprise or Dynamics for SQL, Project Series, and the PDK.


Pre Install Checklist:

1. Windows NT Server 4.0 or Windows 2000 Server on the machine you will use as your PS Time and Expense web server


Windows NT 4.0:

-Windows NT Option Pack 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or higher

-Internet Information Server 4.0

-Active Server Pages 3.0

-IE 5.0 or Netscape 4.7

-Transaction Server 2.0

-Microsoft Data Access Objects 2.0


Windows 2000 Server:

-Internet Service Manager 5.0

-Component Services 5.0

-Active Server Pages 3.0

-IE 5.0 or Netscape 4.7

-Microsoft Data Access Objects 2.0


2.Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 with Service Pack 2 or SQL 2000 on your eEnterprise database server.


3.Install and setup eEnterprise, Project Accounting and Personal Data Keeper on your eEnterprise database server.


4.Log into the web server as a user with Administrator rights, and onto the domain.The user must be validated by the local server computer or by a domain server to successfully install PS Time and Expense.


PS Time and Expense Checklist

Project Series:

1.Install Project Series


2.If you are on version 6.08 or higher install stored procedures:


a. Go to Start | Programs | Great Plains Dynamics/eEnterprise | PA Conversion Utility.

b. Select a company.

c. Click next.

d. Mark the option to ‘Install Stored Procedures.

e. Click convert.


**This step needs to be done for each company.


3.Launch Great Plains and choose Yes to include new code.


4.Initialize SQL:Go to the Shortcut bar| Add| Other Window| Type PA Initialize SQL| Project Accounting| Project| PA Initialize SQL| Add.


5.Choose PA Initialize SQL from the shortcut bar and click Initialize.


6.Initialize the Company:Go to the Shortcut bar| Add| Other Window| Type PA Initialize Company| Project Accounting| Project| PA Initialize Company| Add.


7.Choose PA Initialize Company from the shortcut bar and click Initialize


8.Set the OLE Path to the installation directory in your Dex.ini file:OLEPath=C:\eEnterprise


9.Run the grant70.sql script in Query Analyzer.It is located in the Dynamics | SQL| Utildirectory.This must be run against the company's database and the Dynamics database.


10. Run the Sample Data macro (Tools|Macro| Play| Select Two Inc Sample Data.mac).This step is optional.


Personal Data Keeper:

11.During the installation of PDK, you must mark the Administrator checkbox in the Select Components window for at least one of the workstations.Marking this checkbox will allow you to add users to PDK.If you fail to do this, open the Dex.ini file within the PDK folder, and add the following line:PDKAdmin=True


Note - Do not install PDK into the Great Plains folder


12.Initialize PDK.This is done within Great Plains (Utilities| Project| Initialize PDK).


13.Run the grant 70.sql script in Query Analyzer.It is located in the Great Plains| SQL| Utildirectory.This must be run against the company's database and the DYNAMICS database.


14.Run PDKCompanyProcs.sql in Query Analyzer.It is located in the root of your Great Plains directory.This must be run against the company's database.


15.Run PDKSystemProcs.sql in Query Analyzer.It is located in the root of your Great Plains directory.This must be run against the DYNAMICS database.


Note - On version 6.08 and higher, PDKCompanyProcs.sql and PDKSystemProcs.sql have been replaced by the PA Conversion Utility option to ‘Install Stored Procedures’.To run this go to Start | Programs | Great Plains Dynamics/eEnterprise | PA Conversion Utility.Select a company.Click next.Mark the option to ‘Install Stored Procedures.Click convert.


ODBC Setup

16.You will need at least three ODBC data sources to install and use PS Time and Expense, with the default databases pointing to:


a. Your company database (a DSN will be needed for each company database)

b. The GPFramework database (this database will be created during the install of eBusinessDesk)

c. The DYNAMICS database


Note -If you are implementing PS Time and Expense in a two server environment, you will need to install eBusinessDesk\SQL components and PS Time and Expense on the SQL server before installing eBusinessDesk\Web components and PS Time and Expense on the IIS server.


eBusinessDesk

17.The Great Plains eBusinessDesk must be installed before you can install PS Time and Expense.This application includes the user administration tools you'll need to setup users for PS Time and Expense and all the security functions.You can either accept the default locations during the install or create an eBusinessDesk folder on your hard drive, and an PS Time and Expense folder inside the eBusinessDesk folder.You can install PS Time and Expense as part of the eBusinessDesk installation, or you can installeBusinessDesk, then stop the installation and install PS Time and Expense.


a. All components but e.Sample are required.


b. In the Choose Destination Location window, select the location of the eEnterprise directory.


c. Select a DSN pointing to DYNAMICS when prompted:We recommend assigning a user with a login other than sa.


d. Enter the name of your eBusinessDesk website.


e. Select or create a DSN for GPFramework:Be sure to log in as sa.


18.Installing PS Time and Expense:


a. Choose the Destination Location to install PS Time and Expense (the default location or in a specified location).

b. In the Setup Type window, choose Project Accounting.

c. Choose Finish to complete the installation.


19.Enable PS Time and Expense for client use


a. Windows NT.

b. Go to IIS| Microsoft Transaction Server| Computers| My Computer| Packages.

c. Right click on Great Plains eBusiness Services and select Properties.

d. Choose the Identity tab and mark This User.Enter the user ID and password.

e. Locate and double click on Dcomcnfg.exe (WINNT| System32) and choose Properties.

f.Windows 2000 Server:Microsoft Transaction Server is called Component Services on Windows 2000.


20.Setup Users -To set up users in PS Time and Expense, you must have completed the following procedures


a. Create users in eEnterprise

b. Assign users to projects in Project Accounting(Cards | Payroll | Employee | Project)Assign them user Ids, supervisors and managers in Personal Data Keeper.


Once ALL these setup tasks are complete, you will be able to add users to PS Time and Expense with the eBusinessDesk Administration application.


21.When you firstlog into eBusiness Desk(Start| Programs| Great Plains eBusinessDesk| eBusinessDesk Administration), use your eBusinessDeskUser ID as both your user name and your password (for example:DYNSA, DYNSA).You will be prompted to change your password when you first log into eBusinessDesk Administration.For security reasons, we recommend you change it immediately.


22.Use theAdd Users windowwithin eBusinessDesk Administration to setup users and assign them to user groups:Tools| Manage Users| Add New Users| Personal Data Keeper | Process.When the Select Data Source window appears, choose the Machine Data Source tab and select your eEnterprise data source (the DSN setup in step 15 that points to your DYNAMICS database), where the PDK user records are stored, then choose OK.From the Available Users list, highlight the users to add to PS Time and Expense and choose the right arrow.The users will appear in the Available Users list.From the Select Group List, select the GRP_ETS_USER group and choose Add Users.


23.Editing User Status -Use the Edit Existing Users window (Tools| Manage Users| Edit Existing Users) to inactivate or reactive users and to reset the users password to match the user ID.If you chose Reset Password, a message appears to confirm the action.Choose OK to proceed with the change or Cancel.
