Symptoms
This issue occurs when some emoticons are sent from Microsoft Lync 2010 or Microsoft Lync 2013. When this issue occurs, mismatched emoticons are displayed in Microsoft Skype for Business, and vice versa. The affected emoticons are Hot Smiley, Secret Telling Smiley, Rolling Eyes Smiley, Idea, Hug, Can You Talk, and Let's Meet.Here's the screen shot of the whole emoticons that are sent from Lync 2010:
Cause
This issue occurs because the aliases of these emoticons that are used in Skype for Business conflict with the aliases that are used in Lync 2010 or Lync 2013. Therefore, wrong emoticons are converted and displayed.
Resolution
To fix this issue, install the November 10, 2015 security update (KB3101496) for Lync 2013 (Skype for Business).Note Lync 2013 was upgraded to Skype for Business in April 2015.
