You can easily share a quiz or form as a template so that other teachers and colleagues can duplicate it and use it as their own. When you make a copy of a quiz or form, the copy exists in your profile. When you share a quiz or form as a template, you create a special link which allows others to duplicate the quiz or form in their own profile where they can make changes to it. A duplicated quiz or form created through a template link doesn't contain any response data.

Share as a template

To share a quiz or form as a template, follow these steps:

  1. In Microsoft Forms, open the quiz or form you want to share as a template.

  2. Click Share.

  3. On the Share pane, click Get a link to duplicate.

Share a link to a template of the Form

  4. Click Copy next to the text box that displays a form URL.

  5. Paste this link wherever your intended audience can see and click it or send it to someone else through email.

    Notes:

    • If you use your work or school account to share your form as a template with someone using a personal Microsoft (Hotmail, Live, or Outlook.com) account, the collect response setting to the duplicated form will reset. For personal Microsoft accounts, the setting will reset to one option, which is, Anyone can respond.

    • If you use your personal Microsoft (Hotmail, Live, or Outlook.com) account to share your form as a template with someone using their work or school account, the collect response setting to the duplicated form will reset. For work or school accounts, the setting will reset to two options, which are, Anyone can respond and Only people in my organization can respond.

  6. When another person navigates to that form URL, have them click Duplicate it at the top or bottom of the form to create a copy of the quiz or form in their own profile which they can modify to their needs.

    Duplicate a template.

When you share a quiz or form as a template, only the structure of the quiz or form is duplicated. No existing response data is carried over to the new quiz or form when someone else duplicates it.

Delete a template link

Need to remove a quiz or form template link? Follow these steps:

  1. In Microsoft Forms, open the quiz or form which includes a template link.

  2. Click Share.

  3. On the Share pane, click the Delete trash can button next to the text box that displays a form URL.

  4. Microsoft Forms displays a confirmation message. Click Remove link to remove the template link. Click Cancel if you change your mind here and don't want to remove the template link. Once removed, you can't recreate the same template link.

Cancel and Remove link buttons displayed.

When other users now try to duplicate your quiz or form through the template link, they'll see an error page. You can always create another new template link for your quiz or form if needed but it will be a new unique link. You'll need to send the new template link to other people in order for them to continue duplicating your existing quiz or form.
