Do you often use the same group of AI prompts in Dragon Copilot? A compound prompt allows you to combine separate instructions for different AI actions together instead of using separate prompts for each action.
These multi‑intent prompts allow you to accomplish several tasks in a single interaction:
-
Capture codes while surfacing supporting information from trusted sources
-
Generate patient instruction letters using external clinical guidelines
-
Update clinical notes and capture codes simultaneously
A compound prompt lets you combine separate instructions to:
-
Extract a summary from the note or transcript of your recordings.
-
Search for information in the note or transcript, or trusted external sources.
When you run a compound prompt, the AI responses will appear in the Timeline tab in Dragon Copilot.
Create a compound prompt
Follow the same basic guidelines to create a compound prompt as you would for any prompt. Ensure that the compound prompt clearly states the intent or goal for each instruction you want Dragon Copilot to perform.
For example:
- “Did the patient mention any family history of diabetes? If yes, create a referral letter to an endocrinologist."
- "Create a referral letter using a GP RL template and create a standard patient instructions letter in patient-friendly language.”
- “Capture guidelines for a post kidney transplant diet then create a patient instruction letter with these guidelines using template XYZ.”
- "Add ICD-10 codes to the A&P, each code next to the relevant diagnosis."
When you're satisfied with the results, save the compound prompt to your Library for future use.
How to use a compound prompt
Select and run compound prompts in the same manner as any prompt in your Library:
-
Select the compound prompt from the Library items
list button in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
Tip: If you want to run your compound prompt automatically for every encounter, you can configure a setting in the Style panel in Dragon Copilot to run your prompt after it applies your style preferences. Follow this link for more information.
