VAT amounts are not rounded down to zero as expected in the Czech version or the Slovakian version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 Service Pack 1 with Feature Pack 1 installed and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2

This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics NAV for the following countries and language locales.

  • Slovak (sk)

  • Czech (cz)

Symptoms

Assume that you set value-added tax (VAT) rounding to whole numbers in the Czech version or the Slovakian version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) with the Feature Pack 1 (FP1) installed and the Czech version or the Slovakian version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2. If a VAT amount should be rounded down to zero, the system does not round the VAT amount as expected. Additionally, the system posts the unrounded VAT amount into the general ledger entries and the VAT entries incorrectly.

Code changes

Note Always test code fixes in a controlled environment before you apply the fixes to your production computers.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Change the code in the CalcVATAmountLines function in the Sales Line table (37) as follows:
    Existing code

    ...
    "Amount Including VAT (LCY)" := "Amount Including VAT";
    END ELSE
    "Amount Including VAT (LCY)" := "Amount Including VAT" + "VAT Difference (LCY)";

    // Delete the following lines.
    IF "VAT Amount (LCY)" <> 0 THEN
    VALIDATE("VAT Amount","VAT Amount (LCY)");
    // End of the lines.

    IF SalesHeader."Prices Including VAT" THEN
    IF ("VAT Calculation Type" = "VAT Calculation Type"::"Normal VAT") OR
    ...

    Replacement code

    ...
    "Amount Including VAT (LCY)" := "Amount Including VAT";
    END ELSE
    "Amount Including VAT (LCY)" := "Amount Including VAT" + "VAT Difference (LCY)";

    // Add the following line.
    VALIDATE("VAT Amount","VAT Amount (LCY)");

    IF SalesHeader."Prices Including VAT" THEN
    IF ("VAT Calculation Type" = "VAT Calculation Type"::"Normal VAT") OR
    ...
  2. Change the code in the CalcVATAmountLines function in the Purchase Line table (39) as follows:
    Existing code

    ...
    END ELSE
    "Amount Including VAT (LCY)" := "Amount Including VAT";

    // Delete the following lines.
    IF "VAT Amount (LCY)" <> 0 THEN
    VALIDATE("VAT Amount","VAT Amount (LCY)");
    // End of the lines.

    IF PurchHeader."Prices Including VAT" THEN
    IF ("VAT Calculation Type" = "VAT Calculation Type"::"Normal VAT") OR
    ...

    Replacement code

    ...
    END ELSE
    "Amount Including VAT (LCY)" := "Amount Including VAT";

    // Add the following line.
    VALIDATE("VAT Amount","VAT Amount (LCY)");

    IF PurchHeader."Prices Including VAT" THEN
    IF ("VAT Calculation Type" = "VAT Calculation Type"::"Normal VAT") OR
    ...
