Symptoms

Assume that you enable the data deduplication feature on a Windows Server 2012-based two-node failover cluster. In this situation, the cluster freezes and cannot handle file share requests.

Cause

This issue occurs because a deadlock occurs when the cluster handles file share requests.

How to obtain this hotfix

To resolve this issue, we have released hotfixes for Windows Server 2012.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
