Symptoms
Assume that you have a file share that was created on an EMC VNX storage device on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012. When you try to manage permissions or create virtual machines on the file share by using System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), the operations fail.
Note This hotfix also resolves the issue that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:2840565 Calls that are made by using pass-through APIs fails on a Windows Server 2012-based computer
Cause
This issue occurs because the CIM_AssociatedPrivilege class that is exposed by the VNX NAS SMI-S provider contains two keys that are references and one key that is a string. However, the SMI-S Passthrough component of the System Management Application Programming Interface (SMAPI) assumes that all the keys are references.
Resolution
This hotfix is also available at Microsoft Update Catalog

The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2012" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintain the state of the updated components. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
