You cannot relieve or reverse a prior transaction after you make some changes to the account structure in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics AX for all regions.

Symptoms

Assume that you make some changes, such as adding dimensions, to the account structure in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. When you try to relieve or reverse a prior transaction, you receive the following error message:

Changes have been made to combination <ID of combination> since the combination was last used. The combination must be re-validated to be used.

When this problem occurs, the following process will be blocked:

  • Product Order End

  • Inventory Closing

  • Inventory close cancellation

  • On Hand adjustment

  • Transaction adjustment

  • Lean backflush costing

  • Sales with deferred revenue

  • Backdate, std.cost, purch.

Cause

This problem occurs because existing transactions that are not closed are invalid when you make a change to the account structure.

After you apply this hotfix, the SkipValidation parameter is added when the system submits relief or reversal transactions to the accounting framework. The parameter will make the accounting framework ignore missing dimensions in the reversed transaction, and then the process can be completed.
