Symptoms
You use Microsoft Excel to try to locate the company folder that contains Microsoft Business Solution Business Portal queries or Microsoft Office Integration queries. In this case, you may receive the following error message:
Data Source Connection Error
The server for the data source returned a non-specific error when you try to execute your query. Check the format and content of your query and try again. If the problem persists, contact the server administrator.
Cause
If a query exists at the root of the folder structure in Organize Queries, you cannot search the folder structure by using Excel. By default, a query will exist in the root folder if a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) was created in Microsoft Business Portal. The default location for a query that was created for a KPI is at the root of the folder structure.
Resolution
Create a new folder for the KPI queries, and then move the queries from the root level to the new folder. To do this, follow these steps:
-
Click Site Settings, click Portal Elements, click Organize Queries, and then click Create Folder.
-
Enter a folder name, such as "Queries for KPIs", and then click OK.
-
Select the query at the root level, and then click Move to Folder.
-
Click the new folder, and then click OK.
