SYMPTOMS

When you log on to Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains, you receive the following message:

Great Plains Extender needs to update it's cache with new product details. This may take a few minutes.

Even after you click Update Cache in the Install Extender window several times, you still receive the message every time that you log on to Microsoft Great Plains.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, re-create the Extender tables:

1.

Make a restorable backup of the Dynamics database.

2.

In SQL Query Analyzer, run a DELETE statement on the following tables in the Dynamics database:

• EXT90101
• EXT90102
• EXT90103
• EXT90104
• EXT90105
• EXT90106



3.

Log on to Microsoft Great Plains.

You receive the message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

4.

Click OK .

The Install Extender window opens.

5.

Add Install Extender to the Shortcuts bar. On the Shortcuts bar, click Add , and then click Other Window .

6.

For the folders, click Extender , click System , and then click Install Extender .

7.

Click Install Extender on the Shortcuts bar, and then click to select the Refresh Cache check box. Then, click Install .

8.

Log off Microsoft Great Plains, and then log on again.
