If you want to use smaller taskbar buttons, right-click an empty area of the taskbar, select Taskbar settings, and then turn on Use small taskbar buttons.

Note: To see larger taskbar buttons, turn off this setting.

If the taskbar itself is too wide or too narrow, follow these steps to resize the taskbar:

  • Right-click an empty area of the taskbar.  If there's a check box next to the Lock the taskbar setting, click it to remove the check box and unlock the taskbar.

  • Hover the mouse cursor over the top edge of the taskbar until the cursor becomes a double-sided arrow.

Note: If the taskbar is not located at the bottom of the screen, hover over the edge facing the center of the screen.

  • Click and hold the mouse button, and drag the edge of the taskbar until it is the desired width.

  • If you'd like to move the taskbar to a new location, click and hold the mouse button over an empty area of the taskbar and drag it to the new location.

  • Once the taskbar is at the desired size and location, right-click the taskbar and then select Lock the taskbar to lock it in place.
