If you’re having problems with mobile apps on your Windows 11 PC, here are some things you can try in the Windows Subsystem for Android Settings app.

Most problems will be resolved by restarting the Subsystem. Here’s how:

  1. Select Start, search for Windows Subsystem for Android, and open it.

  2. In this app, select Shutdown subsystem.

  3. Open any mobile app to restart the Subsystem automatically.

The Windows Subsystem for Android Settings app can be used to adjust memory usage, screen resolution, resizable windows, and more. Changing these settings might improve mobile app performance:

  • Subsystem Screen Reader

  • Subsystem resources

    • As needed: When this is selected, the Subsystem will open when a mobile app is opened. Since the Subsystem needs to open first, the mobile app might take a little longer to open. Mobile apps opened after the first one might not be affected.

    • Continuous: The Subsystem is always ready to open apps. Since it's always open in the background, it will use more of your PC's memory and processing power.

When you uninstall the Subsystem, you'll also uninstall the Amazon Appstore and any mobile apps installed on your PC. Any files saved directly to the Subsystem on your PC will also be deleted. Make sure you back them up. When you're ready, here's how to uninstall it:

  1. Select Start > Apps > Apps & features.

  2. Find Windows Subsystem for Android, select More > Uninstall. Uninstalling the Subsystem will also uninstall the Amazon Appstore and all mobile apps on your PC.

When uninstalling the Subsystem, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Uninstalling the Amazon Appstore will also uninstall Windows Subsystem for Android. All mobile apps will be removed from your PC.

  • Uninstalling a mobile app only removes that app and any data related to it.

If issues with the Subsystem or mobile app still aren't resolved, you can leave feedback to help us improve your experience. Here's how:

  2. Include details about your experience.

  3. Make sure you select Apps > Windows Subsystem for Android as the category for your feedback.
