Symptoms
When creating a recurring meeting request with Exchange 2010 Outlook Web App (OWA), one or more of the following symptoms may be seen:
-
If the meeting request is sent to a user with a mailbox on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and the meeting invitation opened with an Exchange Web Services (EWS) client an exception is thrown
-
If the invitation, sitting in the senders (Exchange 2010 user mailbox) Sent Items folder, is opened via an EWS client (e.g. EWSEditor) an exception is thrown.
-
If the invitation, sitting in the receivers (Exchange 2010 user mailbox) Inbox folder, is opened by Exchange Outlook Web App (OWA) or an EWS client, NO exception is thrown
Exception thrown:
ErrorCode: ErrorInvalidOperationĀ
ErrorMessage: Meeting message could not be correlated because the target is a recurring master and the meeting message is an occurrence
Cause
The property IsRecurring is incorrectly set to false for the recurring meeting by Outlook Web App (OWA) 2010.
Note: As seen by the last symptom above, on the receiving end of the invitation the property gets corrected
Workaround
Use OWA (versions 2007 or 2010) or Outlook (version 2010) to instead of using EWS to process the reoccuring message.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
