Symptoms

Assume that you install SQL Server Reporting Services in SharePoint Mode for SharePoint 2013. If the SharePoint catalog database is unreachable by Report Server and the SharePoint daily cleanup job is running then the cached copy of reports and data sets may be removed from the Reporting Services database. This will cause stored credentials to be lost.In the Reporting Services error logs, you may receive error messages that resemble the following:

ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDatabaseUnavailableException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDatabaseUnavailableException: The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. Additionally, in the SharePoint ULS logs, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Resolution

This problem was first fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
