Notice

This update applies to only Windows 7-based computers that have Microsoft Office 2013 applications installed.

Note This update cannot be uninstalled.

Summary

This article describes update 4011087 for Microsoft Office 2013 that was released on September 5, 2017. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It doesn't apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?)

Improvements and fixes

This update fixes the following issue:

Emojis are sometimes displayed as square boxes in Office 2013 applications in Windows 7. This issue might occur if you receive email messages and documents from an Office 2016 Click-to-Run user. Documents and email messages that are created in Office 2016 applications (the Click-to-Run version) request emojis to be displayed in the Segoe UI Emoji font. However, this font is missing in Windows 7. This update installs the Segoe UI Emoji font.

Note This fix will also be included in the next Office 2013 Click-To-Run release.
