Symptoms

Assume that you use Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and 2017. When you query the dynamic management views (DMV's) sys.dm_exec_session_wait_stats and sys.dm_os_wait_stats, you may see inconsistent results for wait types CXPACKET and CXCONSUMER for some parallel query plans.

The same inconsistency can also be found between sys.dm_os_wait_stats and the wait stats in an Actual Execution Plan.
