Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services (SSRS 2016).

  • You upload a report that contains an expression-based connection string to the SSRS, and configure the data source settings.

  • When you try to save the credentials in the data source setting, you may notice that the text box that contains the expression-based connection string will be cleared out and the report fails to run.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

       Cumulative update 8 for SQL Server 2016 SP1
