Symptoms

Assume that you use the FileTables feature in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and 2017. When the contents of a directory that is managed by FileTables are enumerated, and then a cancellation is issued, you may receive the following Stop error code message:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

This problem is fixed in the following updates for SQL Server:

Workaround

This problem is reported to affect SMB clients most frequently. To work around this problem, change the time-out value in the registry on all client computers that use FileTable, as follows:

Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\ParametersType: REG_DWORDName: SessTimeoutValue: 600 (Decimal)
