In Windows, having an eye tracker as part of your device or system enables you to control your PC with only your eyes, enjoy more immersive game experiences, assist those with reading difficulties, and more. Some apps and services request permission to access your eye tracker, and you can always control which apps can access your eye tracker in Windows settings.

Microsoft wants to inform you about these new eye-tracking capabilities so that you can decide whether they’re the right choice for you when using your Windows device. This page describes the eye tracker settings that are available to you and how they work.

How to control which apps can access your eye tracker

In Windows 11

  1. Go to Start Settings > Privacy & security  > Eye tracker.

  2. Make sure that the options to Allow access to the eye tracker on this device and Let apps access your eye tracker are turned on.

  3. Make sure that the individual settings for apps and services you wish to use are turned on.

In Windows 10

  1. Go to Start  > Settings > Privacy > Eye tracker.

  2. Make sure that the options to Allow access to the eye tracker on this device and Allow apps to access your eye tracker are turned on.

  3. Under Choose which apps can access your eye tracker, make sure that the individual settings for apps and services you wish to use are turned on.

Notes:

  • The first time an app needs to access your eye tracker, it requests your permission. If you give an app permission, but you change your mind later, you can turn off that app’s access to your eye tracker by following the steps above.

  • Some apps might not work as intended if you choose to block them from accessing the eye tracker on your device.

Exceptions to the eye tracker privacy settings

If an app accesses the eye tracker using a service that’s different from the one offered by Windows, it will not appear in the list of apps on the Eye tracker page and will not be affected by the Eye tracker setting on the device. To allow or block an app like this, change the settings within the app if available or remove the app.
