Symptoms
Assume that you have a database in Microsoft SQL Server 2016. The database has at least one table that contains a clustered columnstore index and a memory optimized index. When you run sp_updatestats in the table, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Msg 35337, Level 16, State 1, Line LineNumber
UPDATE STATISTICS failed because statistics cannot be updated on a columnstore index. UPDATE STATISTICS is valid only when used with the STATS_STREAM option
Note The error message should not be present in the "Resolution" section after you have applied the update.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
