Symptoms

When you try to upgrade an SSISDB that is restored in Cumulative Update 1 (CU1) or Cumulative Update 2 (CU2) for Microsoft SQL Server 2019 from earlier versions, you notice that ISDBUpgradeWizard.exe generates the following error message:

at Microsoft.SqlServer.IntegrationServices.ISServerDBUpgrade.Database.DatabaseUtilities.SSISDBUpgradeVersionCheck(SqlConnection connection)

at Microsoft.SqlServer.IntegrationServices.Wizard.Common.Model.DBUpgradeModel.DBUpgrade()

at Microsoft.SqlServer.IntegrationServices.DBUpgrade.DBUpgradePage.DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)

at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.OnDoWork(DoWorkEventArgs e)

at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.WorkerThreadStart(Object argument)

Additionally, the version of the SQL Server instance (15.0.x.x) doesn't match the version of the upgrade tool (15.0.2000).

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
