Summary

New features will become available to our Windows Insider community, with a phased rollout to select devices, markets and languages beginning in November. For additional information please see the features below for updates and silicon availability. Check back regularly, as information will be updated and is subject to change over time.   

Use semantic search or timeline in Recall to find snapshots securely saved on your local hard drive. Then use Windows Hello to unlock your snapshots. Use Click to Do (preview) and snapshot actions to engage with snapshot content and/or reopen back to your files and pick up where you left off. You can also use reopen to get back to the specific place in your snapshot for your favorite Microsoft productivity apps: Microsoft Teams, new Outlook, Word, Excel, Edge, and PowerPoint.

Optimized for select languages (English, Chinese (simplified), French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.) Content-based and storage limitations apply.

Availability

Starting later this year, Windows Insiders will begin to see Recall on Arm and x86 Copilot+ PCs.

How to get this feature

When the Recall feature is available to Insiders, you will be able to install this feature by joining your eligible Copilot+ PC to the Windows Insider channel. To do this navigate to Join the Windows Insider Program and manage Insider settings and manage Insider settings and follow the instructions provided for Windows 11.

Use Click to Do to get more done from any screen you are on, including Recall snapshots, to improve your productivity and creativity. Click to Do recognizes text*, and images on your screen. It offers AI powered actions you can take on these, saving you time by helping complete tasks inline, and/or quickly getting you to the app that can best complete the job for you. ​Entry points will include Win + click, Win + Q, and Click to Do button in the Snipping Tool menu when pressing print screen or Win+Shift+S.

*Initial set of text actions will be available in select character sets (Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Tamil, and Thai).

When Click to Do (preview) is available to Insiders, you can get this feature by joining your eligible Copilot+ PC to the Windows Insider Program. To do this navigate to Join the Windows Insider Program and manage Insider settings, then follow the instructions provided for Windows 11.

Use descriptive words in File Explorer or Windows Search Box to find files and photo content locally and on OneDrive.* Find your files and photo content in File Explorer and Windows Search Box. ​Leverage the AI models and Windows Semantic Index to improve search using AI.

*Will initially support prompts in select languages (Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish) and document formats.

Super resolution is a new feature in the Microsoft Photos app, exclusively on Copilot+ AI PCs, which enables users to upscale and sharpen their photos up to 8x the original image size, restoring low-quality photos quickly and efficiently. The feature adds details to the photo while preserving its content and characteristics. Super resolution is perfect for improving old or low-quality photos, preparing photos for large prints or displays, and tight cropping to zero into the content you want to focus on.

How to get this feature

When super resolution is available to Insiders, you will be able to install this feature by joining your eligible Copilot+ PC to the Windows Insider channel. To do this navigate to Join the Windows Insider Program and manage Insider settings and manage Insider settings and follow the instructions provided for Windows 11.  You will also need to update the Microsoft Photos app to the latest version available in the Microsoft Store.

To access the feature on your Copilot+ PC, edit the photo and select the Super resolution option from the menu. 

Generative fill in Paint allows you to easily make edits and additions with just a few words, while maintaining the existing art style without using complex software.​ After selecting part of your image with the selection tool, enter a prompt to add or modify the image with AI-generated elements. The generative fill feature in Paint will be available for Copilot+ PCs and will initially only be available to Copilot+ PCs with Qualcomm processors.

​​​​​​​Generative erase in Paint allows you to seamlessly remove unwanted objects from any image on the canvas. Use the eraser tool or select any part of your image with the selection tool to select the content you want to remove, and the empty space will be seamlessly filled in and blend in with the rest of the image as if the content was never there. The Generative Erase feature in Paint will be available on all PCs.

Optimized for English text prompts. Requires Microsoft account and internet connection to access cloud services that help ensure the responsible use of AI.

When Generative Fill and Erase in Paint is available to Insiders, you will be able to install these features by joining your eligible Copilot+ PC to the Windows Insider channel. To do this navigate to Join the Windows Insider Program and manage Insider settings and manage Insider settings and follow the instructions provided for Windows 11. You will also need to update the Microsoft Paint app to the latest version available in the Microsoft Store.
