Symptoms

When you view a hierarchical address book (HAB) in a cached mode profile in Microsoft Outlook 2010, the contact entries are sorted by creation dates instead of alphabetically. This issue occurs only if Outlook 2010 uses an offline address book in a non-Japanese environment.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install June 9, 2015, update for Outlook 2010 (KB3054881), and then follow these steps.Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

  1. Exit all Microsoft Office applications.

  2. Start Registry Editor:

    • In Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, move your mouse to the upper-right corner, click Search, type regedit in the search text box, and then click regedit.exe in the search results.

    • In Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, click Start, type regedit in the Search programs and files text box, and then click regedit.exe in the search results.

  3. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook

  4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

  5. Type HABSortCheckYomi, and then press Enter.

  6. In the Details pane, right-click HABSortCheckYomi, and then click Modify.

  7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

  8. Exit Registry Editor.
