Summary

Copilot in Windows (in preview)1 is available starting November 30, 2023, for Windows 10, version 22H2. This is to align with the November 2023 non-security preview update for devices that run the Home and Pro editions2.  After you install that update, if you want to get Copilot in Windows as soon as possible on an eligible Windows 10 device3, you can do that. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Turn on Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available. Then select Check for updates4,5. This will be a phased release using controlled feature rollout (CFR) over the coming months.

Devices that run the Pro (managed), Enterprise, or Education editions are not included in this CFR. To prepare for Copilot in Windows on Windows 10, IT administrators can read Enable optional updates for Windows 10 devices.

1 Copilot in Windows (in preview) on Windows 10 will be released in preview to select global markets. It is our intention to add additional markets over time.

2 Devices that run the Home and Pro (non-managed) editions of Windows 10, version 22H2.

3 Devices require > 4GB RAM and a display adapter that supports +720p resolution. We might detect that your device has an issue, such as an application incompatibility. So, we might put a safeguard hold in place and not offer Copilot in Windows (in preview) until that issue is addressed.

4 Devices might need to restart to enable new features. You must install the Windows 10, version 22H2 November 30, 2023, or later update to enable the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” functionality.

5 Note the toggle won't be enabled for managed devices (those that are managed by Windows Update for Business or WSUS).
