Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use PerformancePoint Services for SharePoint Server 2010 to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2).

  • You create an analytic grid in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer. You add a measure and a dimension to the analytic grid. The dimension contains more than one member.

  • You apply a Top 10 filter or a user-specified value filter to the analytic grid.

Note A Multidimensional expression (MDX) query is generated in PerformancePoint Services when you apply the filter.

In this scenario, either incorrect data or the following message is displayed in the analytic grid:

There is no data to display

Cause

This issue occurs because the MDX query contains a call to the Descendants function that passes a single-tuple set as the only parameter. However, the Descendants function is incorrectly defined to handle the parameter.
