This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated February 22, 2011.Note There has a new hotfix package published at April 26, 2011, this new hotfix package fix more issues for Office Outlook 2007 and include all the fix this article described. INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 crashes when you try to view another user’s calendar. Specifically, this issue occurs when an expected property is not available.

  • You are granted the permission to access a mailbox folder as a reviewer in Office Outlook 2007. When you try to open an email message that requests a read receipt, you receive the following error message:

    Cannot open this item. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator.

    Note This problem does not occur if the owner of the folder previously opened the email message.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You have an email account that has activated the Cached Exchange Mode and Download shared folders (excludes mail folders) settings.

    • You log on to the email account in Office Outlook 2007.

    • You add an attachment that exceeds the message size limit to an existing email message in the shared mailbox.

    • You save the email message.

    In this scenario, the message is saved and no error occurs. However, you should receive the following error message:

    The attachment size exceeds the allowable limit.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You have two user accounts in Office Outlook 2007, User A and User B.

    • You configure User A as a delegate of User B.

    • User A edits an item in User B’s calendar.

    • User B opens the item from his calendar.

    • User B views the information in the last modified by field.

    In this situation, User B is listed as the last person to change the item, instead of User A.

  • You install an add-in that logs on to the shared MAPI session in Office Outlook 2007. When you exit Office Outlook 2007, the Outlook process does not stop. This issue occurs because the add-in tries to log off from the shared MAPI session by using the MAPI_LOGOFF_SHARED flag.

  • When you use a POP or IMAP account to open an .eml file in Office Outlook 2007, the To and Cc fields are not displayed.

  • Assume that you apply the hotfix package that is described in Knowledge Base article 2412171 to Office Outlook 2007. Then, you cannot log on to a POP or IMAP account that is configured to use Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

  • Assume that you apply the hotfix package that is described in Knowledge Base article 2412171 to Office Outlook 2007. Then, if your MAPI profile is not configured to have an Exchange account, the following issues occur:

    • Office Outlook 2007 becomes slow when you switch between different folder views.

    • The AutoArchive button is unavailable.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • In Office Outlook 2007, you send a meeting request to User A and User B.

    • User A does not send a response for the meeting request.

    • User B sends a tentative response to you and User A.

    • User A deletes the tentative response from his Inbox.

    In this scenario, the meeting request is also deleted from the calendar of User A.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You run Office Outlook 2007 in Online mode.

    • You click the Do not deliver before option to defer the delivery of an email message.

    • You send the deferred email message. The email message is stored in the Outbox.

    • You reopen the email message.

    • You change the initial deferred delivery time for the email message, and then you send it again.

    In this scenario, the deferred email message leaves the Outbox unexpectedly. Additionally, the email message is delivered immediately.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You configure an email account to use the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Address Book.

    • You log on to the email account in Office Outlook 2007.

    • In a new email message, you add the nicknames of several recipients to the To field.

    • You send the email message.

    In this scenario, unexpected LDAP queries occur for each recipient. Additionally, Office Outlook 2007 stops responding.

  • You use smartcard-based authentication in Office Outlook 2007. Then, you enter an incorrect personal identification number (PIN). In this situation, the smartcard is locked.

  • The Delegates dialog box stops responding for a long time if you start Outlook by using an RPC over HTTP connection.

  • Office Outlook 2007 crashes when you try to access a public folders server. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

  • Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is not used in Office Outlook 2007 when you try to log on to your mailbox account over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • Your user principle name (UPN) differs from your SMTP address in Office Outlook 2007.

    • You install the hotfix package that is described in Knowledge Base article 2412171.

    • You use the Autodiscover service.

    In this scenario, the Autodiscover service fails.
