Symptoms
When a computer connects to a Windows Server 2008 R2-based web server by using the IP over HTTPS (IP-HTTPS) protocol, the connection may be lost after two minutes of idle time.
When this issue occurs, applications that rely on the IP-HTTPS connection do not work correctly. For example, you deploy a Group Policy object (GPO) to remote clients in a domain that has Microsoft Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) DirectAccess. In this scenario, the clients that use the IP-HTTPS protocol might not obtain the GPO because IP-HTTPS connection times out.Cause
This issue occurs because an IP-HTTPS connection times out after two minutes of idle time.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, apply the following hotfix on the web server. After you install this hotfix, the time-out for IP-HTTPS connections is changed to 30 minutes (1800 seconds).
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support telephone numbers or to create a separate service request, visit the following Microsoft Web site:http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=supportNote The "Hotfix download available" form displays the languages for which the hotfix is available. If you do not see your language, it is because a hotfix is not available for that language.
