Symptoms

Assume that you use the DNS Management snap-in (Dnsmgmt.msc) to manage DNS servers on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2. However, the DNS Management snap-in console stops responding when you try to edit the Name Servers tab.For example, consider the following scenario:

  • You open the DNS Management snap-in, and then select a DNS server.

  • You right-click a zone to open the Properties dialog box.

  • On the Name Servers tab, you click Delete to delete a DNS server.

  • A dialog box that contains a message that resembles the following appears:

Do you want to delete host record <Domain name>? [<IP address>]

In this scenario, the DNS Management snap-in console stops responding
